How do I become a vendor?

Vendor submissions open in the first week of the month, every month or 5-7 days after the previous event. You can find vendor submission links at blackmarketflea.com or via the link in our bio on our instagram page @blackmarketflea.

How do you select your vendors?

Black Market Flea is a carefully curated event. We seeks out the most unique, Black-owned brands; those who go the extra mile to provide uncommon, signature products of quality, purpose and creativity. Due to our moderate capacity, we have a limit on how many vendors we approve within the same product category per month. This may be one reason a submission is not approved. Other reasons may include: the website or socials provided do not give a clear or accurate representation of products, products are inappropriate for certain age groups (as weare an all ages event), products/service may not be sanitary for the event, products go against our zero tolerance policy for discrimination, or the products do not align with the curation of Black Market Flea.

Do you have to be Black to vend at Black Market Flea?

Yes, all vendors at BMF must be Black/African/African-American.

How large is each booth space?

A standard vendor booth is 10’x10’. If a vendor wishes to purchase additional space, you can via the payment page on vendor submissions after your submission gets approved.

What are the costs associated with being a vendor?

A standard 10x10 booth is $150. Each additional 10x10 space is an additional $150. Vendors must also purchase insurance for their booth/business for the event day. One of our insurance recommendations is via Thimble.com, and starts around $27 for merchandise vendors.

Do I need a permit?

We currently do not require permits for merchandise vendors. This is subject to change. For food, pastry, and beverage vendors, health permits are required and all non-truck vendors without LA County Health Permits must fill out and pay for a TFF permit, which will be reviewed for approval by the LA County Department of Public Health.

What if I apply to vend, but can no longer make it?

If you are approved to vend, but have not yet paid for your booth, there is no need to reach out to withdraw from the event, as your spot is not secured until you pay for your booth. If you have paid for your booth, but need to withdraw from the event, we have a 24hr full refund policy. If you must withdraw from the event on the day of the event, please send an email stating your business name and withdrawal.

Load-in for vendors starts on the morning of the event, between 7:30AM - 10:45AM on a staggered flow. Vendors who are approved to vend receive specific load-in instructions a few days before the event.

How much time do I have to set up and break down?
